FAQ's
Q) Do I have to be a loss parent to attend?
A) Absolutely not. We welcome anybody who has had a difficult birth / parenting journey.
Q) Will I be expected to share my experience or why I have chosen this group?
A) No, not unless you choose to. There will beno expectation to share anything at all, but if you do happen to meet another parent who you feel you'd like to open up to, then it will be welcomed and received both sensitively and respectfully.
Q) What about the facilitator? Will she not need to know why I'm there?
A) I don't ask for you to explain why you've chosen our group. But if you feel it would make you more comfortable just knowing that someone in the room knows your story, then I woiuld welcome you to drop me a message beforehandin the knowledge that whatever you choose to share with me will be held in confidence at all times.
Q) Is this a structured or freeplay session?
A) I will try to keep the sessions as structured as possible so that each person has an activity to focus on with their child. But if your children decide they'd like to go off and explore then they will have the freedom to be able to do so.
Q) Is this a support group?
A) Yes and No. This is primarily a parent and baby class. Howevrr, my hope is that in time you will feel a sense of community among our members. We also work very closely with a local parents only support group, (@notalonenewbury) should you feel this would also benefit you.
Q) Is there an opportunity to socialise with the other adults if I feel I'd like to?
A) Yes! Although the group itself is fairly structured and aimed at your little ones, The sessions are held in spaces where there is either a cafe attached, or very close by so that you can socialise at your own pace in a relaxed environment.
